Monitoring ISAIAS
The County is at OPCON 2, meaning we are closely and continuously monitoring the storm. After a meeting with State and NWS officials this morning, here is our current update for the County of Orangeburg:
π The rain will begin to reach our area between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. today
π We can see rainfall totals between 1 1/2 - 4 inches, varying by location and storm's track
π Please be sure to avoid driving through any ponding or flooding waters. Remember, TURN AROUND, DONT DROWN!
πPlease be aware of any potential hazards, including downed trees and power lines. ALWAYS assume a downed power line is live, and avoid going near it!
π The associated increase in winds will begin around 5 p.m. and continue through 9 p.m.
π The City of Orangeburg can expect to see 25 mph gusts
π The eastern end of our county (such as Holly Hill, Eutawville) can see gusts up to 35 mph with sustained winds around 20-25 mph
π We anticipate the worst of it will be through by Midnight
π We, along with the State, do NOT anticipate many power issues, but are ready to respond should the need arise. Please contact your service provider with any issues.
π At this time, we will NOT be opening any shelters.
Please be proactive and ensure your Hurricane Readiness Plan is updated and activated.
