Solid Waste Program

Responsibilities

The Orangeburg County Solid Waste Program handles the disposal of waste products that cannot be disposed of at the County Collection Centers. If you have doubts about whether or not items you wish to dispose of are accepted by the Orangeburg County Landfill, please call before bringing your load!

Waste Processing Requirements & Fees

Tipping Fees

A tipping fee of $43 per ton is charged on construction and demolition waste. Cash or checks are the only methods of payment accepted for tipping fees

Asbestos

Disposal of asbestos requires a letter of approval from South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) Asbestos Section. To obtain a copy of applicable forms, contact DHEC at 803-898-4289 or visit the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control website.

The asbestos disposal fee is $150 per ton, and requires special packaging. Prior arrangements must be made with the Orangeburg County Landfill to schedule a drop-off.

Other Requirements

  • No mixed loads for Commercial customers; individuals must separate items
  • All weekday drop-offs must be made by 4:45 pm and out by 5 pm and all Saturday drop-offs must be made by 12:15 pm and out by 12:30 pm.

Other Fees

  • Disposal of shingles/roofing materials fee is $43 per ton
  • Disposal of tires without proper documentation requires a fee of $150 per ton

The list below contains information regarding what materials cannot be disposed of at convenience sites in Orangeburg County:

  • Burned Garbage
  • Creosote
  • Medical Waste
  • Vehicle Gasoline Tanks
