Shooter identified, sought

8/20/2015 | The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office has obtained warrants against a North Carolina man who has been identified as the shooter who fired into a crowded nightclub parking lot killing one and wounding several others.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said investigators are seeking 30-year-old Nazdric Gates, of Mt. Airy, on warrants charging him with the murder of a club goer at Pit Stop Pub this past weekend.
“Mr. Gates was identified through an exhaustive and non-stop investigation that began shortly after the fatal and tragic shooting,” the sheriff said. “We're asking anyone with information on Gates' whereabouts to contact us immediately. He is to be considered armed and dangerous.”
Christavious Darby, 22, was declared dead at the scene of the early Saturday morning shooting. Three other men were injured by gunshots as a car left the parking lot. They were treated at area hospitals for what were believed to be non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
Witnesses told investigators that after an altercation, Gates left the night club in a tan Saturn with tinted windows but not before pointing a gun out of the car's window and firing multiple rounds.
Darby was not part of that altercation.
Gates is described as a black male standing about 5-8 tall and weighing around 185 pounds. He was said to have short dreadlocks on the night of the shooting.
If anyone has any information on Gates or his location, they are asked to call the OCSO at 803-534-3550 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
